About this test
The single most useful TB test available: it confirms the organism and simultaneously reports whether it is resistant to rifampicin, which is the marker for multi-drug-resistant disease. Results come the same day, against weeks for culture, so treatment can start correctly from the outset.
What it measures
- Mycobacterium tuberculosis complex DNA
- Mutations conferring rifampicin resistance
A note on results. A single test is one part of a clinical picture, not a diagnosis. Discuss your report with a qualified doctor, who will read it alongside your history and examination.
