About this test
The fall in urea between the pre- and post-dialysis samples is what the urea reduction ratio and Kt/V are calculated from, and those numbers decide whether the prescription needs changing. The post sample has to be drawn to a defined protocol for the calculation to hold.
What it measures
- Post-dialysis urea and creatinine
- Electrolytes
- Urea reduction ratio
A note on results. A single test is one part of a clinical picture, not a diagnosis. Discuss your report with a qualified doctor, who will read it alongside your history and examination.
