About this test
Run before dialysis to establish where the patient is starting from: how much urea and creatinine have accumulated, and whether potassium, calcium and phosphate are safe. Paired with the post-dialysis profile, it is how the adequacy of the session is judged.
What it measures
- Urea and creatinine
- Sodium, potassium, chloride, bicarbonate
- Calcium and phosphate
A note on results. A single test is one part of a clinical picture, not a diagnosis. Discuss your report with a qualified doctor, who will read it alongside your history and examination.
