About this test
A Renal Function Test shows how efficiently your kidneys are filtering waste out of the blood. It is essential for anyone with diabetes or high blood pressure, both of which damage the kidneys silently for years before symptoms appear, and it is used to check kidney safety before and during certain medications.
What it measures
- Serum creatinine and estimated GFR, the core measure of filtration
