About this test
Assesses number, movement and shape of sperm against WHO reference values. Counts vary considerably between samples, so an abnormal result is normally repeated after some weeks before conclusions are drawn. The sample must be examined promptly, which is why it is produced at the centre.
What it measures
- Volume, concentration and total count
- Motility and progressive motility
- Morphology and white cell content
A note on results. A single test is one part of a clinical picture, not a diagnosis. Discuss your report with a qualified doctor, who will read it alongside your history and examination.
