About this test
Sleep apnoea causes loud snoring, unrefreshing sleep and daytime sleepiness, and untreated it raises blood pressure and cardiovascular risk substantially. The study records breathing, oxygen, heart rhythm and sleep stages through the night, and the severity index determines whether CPAP is needed.
What it measures
- Apnoea-hypopnoea index
- Oxygen desaturation through the night
- Sleep stages, arousals and heart rhythm
A note on results. A single test is one part of a clinical picture, not a diagnosis. Discuss your report with a qualified doctor, who will read it alongside your history and examination.
