About this test

Ultrasound guidance lets the needle reach small, deep or awkwardly placed lesions and confirms it is sampling the right part — which cuts the rate of inadequate samples and repeat procedures. Standard for many thyroid nodules and deep lymph nodes.

What it measures

  • Cytological diagnosis from the targeted lesion
  • Confirmation of adequate sampling

A note on results. A single test is one part of a clinical picture, not a diagnosis. Discuss your report with a qualified doctor, who will read it alongside your history and examination.
