About this test
A culture grows any bacteria present and then tests them against a panel of antibiotics. It takes two to three days, but it is what turns guesswork into a targeted prescription — increasingly important as resistance rises. Ideally the sample is collected before antibiotics are started.
What it measures
- Bacterial identification and colony count
- Antibiotic sensitivity panel
A note on results. A single test is one part of a clinical picture, not a diagnosis. Discuss your report with a qualified doctor, who will read it alongside your history and examination.
