About this test
Vitamin D is made in the skin from sunlight and is needed to absorb calcium. Deficiency is widespread here — sun avoidance, covered clothing, air quality and darker skin all reduce how much is produced — and it shows up as aching bones, muscle weakness, low mood and fatigue. The 25-OH form is the one that reflects your actual stores.
