About this test
This test detects antibodies your immune system makes after exposure to hepatitis C. A positive result needs a follow-up PCR test to confirm whether the infection is still active, because antibodies persist even after the virus has cleared. Hepatitis C is now curable in most cases, which makes finding it worthwhile.
