About this test
Detects the heterophile antibodies of acute EBV infection and gives an answer the same day. It is often negative in the first week and in young children, so a negative result with a strong clinical picture is followed by the specific EBV antibody panel.
What it measures
- Heterophile antibody
A note on results. A single test is one part of a clinical picture, not a diagnosis. Discuss your report with a qualified doctor, who will read it alongside your history and examination.
