About this test
Requested for diarrhoea that is bloody, prolonged or accompanied by fever, and after travel. It looks for Salmonella, Shigella and Campylobacter among others, and the sensitivity pattern is what makes the treatment specific rather than empirical.
What it measures
- Bacterial pathogens isolated
- Antibiotic sensitivity pattern
A note on results. A single test is one part of a clinical picture, not a diagnosis. Discuss your report with a qualified doctor, who will read it alongside your history and examination.
