About this test
A routine stool examination looks for parasites, their eggs, blood, mucus and undigested fat. It is the first-line test for persistent diarrhoea and for suspected intestinal worms, both of which remain common here.
What it measures
- Ova, cysts and parasites
- Occult blood
- White and red cells
- Consistency and reducing substances
A note on results. A single test is one part of a clinical picture, not a diagnosis. Discuss your report with a qualified doctor, who will read it alongside your history and examination.
